Here are 5 summer oral health tips so you can get the most out of your much-needed time off.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#1: Drink More Water &nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beer and soda are both staples at summer barbecues, but sticking with water is the best choice to protect your smile. Dark beer and sodas can stain your teeth over time. In addition, due to their high levels of acidity, both of these beverages can wear away tooth enamel. In contrast, drinking tap water actually promotes healthy teeth! Water from the tap usually contains fluoride, an important mineral that strengthens teeth and reduces the risk of tooth decay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#2: Eat Teeth-Healthy Foods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of barbecues, make sure that you incorporate smile-friendly foods into your summer diet. Specifically, eating foods with high levels of calcium, phosphorous, and Vitamin C can boost both your overall and oral health. Vitamin C protects gums against gingivitis, while calcium and phosphorus help strengthen enamel and build strong, healthy bones. That is why it is so important to wear a protective mouthguard when playing recreational sports. These days, you can personalize your mouthguard by picking from a wide range of colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#4: Do Not Use Your Teeth as Tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your family is going on a camping trip this summer, be sure to pack all the tools you may need, including a knife or pair of scissors. The last thing you want to do is use your teeth to open a packet of instant coffee or other packaging. Never use your teeth as tools!
